A wiki is simply a group of web pages that anyone can edit or contribute to.
For example, a visitor comes to the website and reads the content on one of the pages. They see a spelling error and decide to fix it right away. All they have to do is click on the Edit This Page link, make the correction, and Save the page. Voila! Instant fix!
Not only can existing pages be easily edited, new pages can be added just as easily. One method of creating a new page is to edit a page and then add a new link within that content. After you Save your edit, you can click on the new link and choose Create This Page. At that point, you can add content to the new page as well.
This method of creating a new page is best because it allows all pages to automatically be linked to one another. Plus, the wiki will grow automatically as viewers contribute new pages and new content.
One thing you should note, however. Since links are being added to existing pages, it's always a good idea to choose an existing page that has similar or related content to the one you're about to create. That way, someone interested in a certain topic or subject will have the benefit of seeing related areas of interest on that same page.
On the other hand, if you simply add an unrelated link to any existing page, it won't have any relevance to the topic the viewer is initially interested in.
If you'd like to create a page that has no relation to any of those that already exist, you can use either of these methods:
1. Create a new link on any existing page and then remove that link after the new page is created.
2. Simply conduct a search using the exact words that you would like for the pagename. For example, crochet doll dress. The search results will indicate that the page does not yet exist and will suggest that you Create This Page.
