Bookmarks - Kids Sewing

This bookmark sewing project was submitted by Debbie Madson from Kids Sewing Projects.

Her website is dedicated to projects that kids can do and this one is a perfect example of getting kids started in sewing. The bookmark shown is 2-1/2" x 5-1/2" but you can make it any size you like. Keep it simple or add an embroidered name or word to give it a personalized touch.

Materials

  • piece of fabric or felt
  • card stock
  • ribbon
  • hole punch

Instructions

Cut 2 pieces of fabric or felt that are the size of the finished bookmark you want. Cut 1 piece of card stock the same size.

Sandwich the pieces together, layering one piece of fabric with right side down, then the cardstock, and finish with the other piece of fabric right side up.

bookmark 1

Align and hold the pieces, sewing close along the edges all the way around (a simple zigzag stick works great).

bookmark 2

Punch a hole at the top and tie a couple of pieces of ribbon through the hole.
