Crochet Heart Bookmark
These crochet heart bookmarks take a little bit more effort than the average bookmark but they're well worth it. And once you get through the first one, you'll see how easy the overall pattern is.
Materials
- crochet thread
- crochet hook - size 2
Instructions
Ch 26.
Row 1 - Dc in 8th ch from hook, (ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch) 6 times.
Row 2 - Ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in ch-2 sp, dc in next dc, dc in ch-2 sp, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of ch-5. Turn.
Row 3 - Ch 5, dc in next dc, dc in ch-1 sp, dc in next 3 dc, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, dc in ch-1 sp, dc in next 3 dc, dc in ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of ch-5. Turn.
Row 4 - Ch 5, dc in next 7 dc, 2 dc in ch-2 sp, dc in next 7 dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of ch-5. Turn.
Row 5 - Ch 5, dc in next 16 dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of ch-5. Turn.
Row 6 - Ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next 10 dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of ch-5. Turn.
Row 7 - Ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of ch-5. Turn.
Row 8 - Ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of ch-5. Turn.
Rows 9 thru 14 - Repeat Rows 2 thru 7.
Row 15 - Ch 1, turn. Sl st in ch-2 sp, sl st in next dc, ch 5, *dc in next dc, ch 2. Repeat from * 1 time. Sk 2 dc, (dc in next dc, ch 2) twice, dc in next dc. Turn.
Row 16 - Ch 1, sl st in ch-2 sp, sl st in next dc, ch 5, (dc in next dc, ch 2) twice, dc in next dc. Turn.
Row 17 - Ch 1, sl st in next ch-2 sp, sl st in next dc, ch 4, tr in next dc.
Ch 35 (for shorter tail like the cream-color bookmark, ch 25), sc in 3rd ch from hook and each remaining ch, sl st in top of tr. Fasten off.
Tassel
Wrap crochet thread 35 times around a 1 inch wide strip of cardboard. Slip a piece of crochet thread under strands at top of cardboard and tie tightly. Slide all strands off the cardboard. Wrap a piece of thread around tassel 1/4" - 1/2" from top and tie tightly. Cut through all the loops and trim ends evenly.
Tie tassel to the end of the chain.
