Mini Oatmeal Bath Bombs

Submitted by Stephanie Taylor. These bath bombs (fizzies) make great gifts. The oatmeal milk and honey version smells wonderful but you can use any fragrance you like.

oatmeal milk and honey bath bombs

Ingredients (will make 4 small bath bombs)

  • 1/4 cup citric acid (small granules)
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • sweet almond oil - about 1 tablespoon
  • vitamin E oil (optional)
  • witch hazel
  • baby (mineral) oil
  • fragrance - oatmeal milk and honey (or whatever you prefer)
  • oatmeal - any kind as is or finely shredded in blender

Materials

  • large bowl
  • measuring cups
  • rubber gloves
  • pastry brush or sponge
  • 4 silicone cake pop molds
  • towel or newspaper
  • eye-dropper
  • small spray bottle

Instructions

Step 1
Using a brush or sponge, grease the molds with baby (mineral) oil.

Step 2
Wearing gloves, place the citric acid and baking soda in a bowl and mix well (so there's no clumps).

Step 3
Add oatmeal, almond oil, and vitamin E oil and mix everything together until it feels clumpy and wet. From this point, don't let it sit. Move right to the next step..

Step 4
Add your fragrance oil with a dropper (about 5 or 6 squirts). The key is to smell it to get it to your liking.

Step 5
Using witch hazel in your spray bottle, spray the mixture until it feels like wet sand. Pat mixture and pull together with your fingers while spraying.

Step 6
Moving quickly, pack the mixture fully into the molds, almost to the top.

Step 7
Allow them to dry in the molds for at least 24 hours. Then turn the mold upside down and push gently to release. Let them continue to harden. The longer they sit, the harder they become.

After the bombs are completely dry, wrap them up and put them in a little box. Keeping them wrapped will preserve the fragrance.
