These crochet bookmarks are so delicate and lovely that you'll want to make one for all your friends and family members.

Instructions

You can make these bookmarks longer or shorter by adding or subtracking rows between Rows 2-18.

Special Stitch - Shell Stitch: 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc

Start with chain 6. Join to form a ring.

Row 1 - Ch 3. 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in ring (1st shell). Ch 1. 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in ring (2nd shell). Ch 5, turn.

Rows 2-18 - Shell in ch 1 space of first shell. Chain 1. Shell in ch 1 space of second shell. Chain 5, turn.

Row 19 - Shell in ch 1 space of first shell. Ch 1. 6 dc in ch-1 space between shells. Ch 1. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 20 - Shell in ch 1 space of first shell. Ch 2. Dc in next dc of 6-dc group, [ch 1, dc in next dc] 5 times. Ch 2. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 21 - Shell in first shell, [ch 3, sc in next ch-1 space] 5 times. Ch 3. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 22 - Shell in first shell, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space] 3 times. Ch 3. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 23 - Shell in first shell, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space] 2 times. Ch 3. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 24 - Shell in first shell. Ch 3. Skip next ch-3 space. Sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 25 - Shell in first shell. Ch 3. Skip next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 26 - Shell in first shell. Ch 1. Shell in second shell. Ch 5, turn.

Row 27 - Skip first shell. 2 dc in ch-1 space between shells, ch 3, sl st in first ch of ch 3 (picot), 2 dc in same ch-1 space between shells. Ch 5. Sl st in last dc of second shell.

Fasten off.

Weave ribbon in and out of the open spaces. Allowing 1-2 inches to extend beyond the top and bottom, trim ribbon at both ends.
