Crochet Daffodil
Daffodils are the perfect signal that Spring has arrived. What better way to celebrate this than by creating beautiful crochet daffodils.
Materials
- yarn
- crochet hook size F
- l yarn needle
Instructions
Crochet Daffodil Center
Chain 5, slip stitch in first chain to form a rings.
Ch 1, 8 sc in ring. Sl st in starting ch 1.
Row 1: Ch 2, 2 dc in first sc, dc in next 3 sc, 2 dc in next sc, dc in next 3 dc. Slip stitch in top of starting ch 2.
Row 2: Ch 2, dc in each dc all the way around. Slip stitch in top of starting ch 2.
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first dc, sc in next 2 doc, 2 sc in next dc, sc in next 2 dc, continuing same sequence all the way around. Slip stitch in top of starting ch 1.
Row 4: Repeat Row 3. Fasten off.
Crochet Daffadil Petals
Ch 8, 3 dc in third chain from hook, dc in next chain (twice), hdc in next chain (twice), sc in last chain.
Without turning continue around the other side with hcd in next chain (twice), dc in next chain (twice), 3 dc in last chain.
Slip stitch in top of starting dc. Fasten off. Weave in yarn ends.
Make five more pedals.
Crochet Daffodil Stamen
FIG 1:
1) Cut a piece of yellow yarn 8 inches long. 2) Tie a slip knot halfway. 3) Tie another slip knot over the first one. 4) Fold in half.
Repeat four more times (5 stamen).
FIG 2:
1) Bunch all the folded stamen together. Take a piece of yellow yarn and tie the bunch togeher with a slip knot 3/4 inch below the stamen knots.
2) Trim off other ends so they're roughly the same length. Tie another piece of yarn around all of them near the bottom.
FIG 3:
Thread the last tied yarn through the hole in the bottom of the daffodil center going from inside to outside. Pull through the center until the first tie is flush with the bottom of the daffodil center.
Carefully remove the bottom tie. Weave all ends in and cut off any excess.
Assemble Crochet Daffodil
Connect all the pedals.
Attach crochet daffodil center in the middle of the pedals.
