Crochet Easter Egg Cozy

This crochet Easter egg cozy makes coloring eggs obsolete. Crochet individual ones in assorted colors or create an Easter egg "flower bouquet" like the one shown here.

Materials

• regular weight yarn (yellow)
• crochet hook - size F
• yarn needle
• small basket or bowl
• 5 hard boiled eggs
• artificial lillies (optional)
• tissue paper or Easter grass (optional basket or bowl liner)

Instructions

Chain 4. Join with sl st to form a ring.

Round 1 - Ch 3, 10 dc in ring. Join with sl st in top of ch-3.

Round 2 - Ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc] 3 times, dc in next dc. Join with sl st in top of ch-3.

Round 3 - Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc [2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc] 3 times, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Join with sl st in top of ch-3.

Round 4 - Ch 1, sc in next 2 dc, [2 sc in next dc, sc in next 3 dc] 4 times, 2 sc in next dc. Join with sl st in starting ch-1.

Round 5 - Ch 1, [skip next sc, sc in next 3 sc] 6 times. Join with sl st in starting ch-1.

Round 6 - Ch 4, turn. Working in back loops only, skip next sc, sc in next sc, [ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc] 8 times, ch 3. Join with sl st at base of ch-3 (10 loops).

Round 7 - Ch 1, sc in next ch-3 loop, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next ch-3 loop] 4 times. 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-3 loop. Join with sl st in sc in first ch-3 loop.

Round 8 - Ch 1, sl st in next dc, ch 1, sc in same sp. Sc in next 2 dc, 3 sc in next ch-2 sp, * sc in next 3 dc, skip next dc, sc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around. Join and fasten off.

Weave in ends.

Repeat instructions to create four more cozies.

Place hard-boiled eggs in cozies...

...and arrange in a basket or bowl.
