Crochet Heart Sachet
This crochet heart sachet is not for the faint of heart. In fact, it's one of the most difficult projects we've encountered. Not because of the basic design, but simply because one wrong stitch can easily distort the entire pattern.
If you don't mind risking the possibility of starting over a couple of times in order to get it just right, then by all means go for it.
Who knows? You might luck out and get it perfect on your first attempt!
Materials
- crochet thread #10 (pink and white)
- crochet hook size 2
- 16" piece of 1/4" wide ribbon
- cotton
- scented powder
Instructions
Chain 24. Slip stitch in first chain to form a ring. Ch 1, sc in each ch, sl st in ch-1, ch 3, 60 dc in ring. Join.
Row 1 - Sc in each of next 38 dc, ch 4, skip 2 dc. In next dc make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (shell made). Skip 2 dc, sl st in next dc. Ch 4, turn.
Row 2 - In ch-2 sp of shell make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc (shell over shell). Ch 4, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, sc in each sc across (pick up only the back loop of each sc through sc section only). Ch 4, skip 2 dc of ring. In next dc make a shell. Skip 2 dc, sl st in next dc. Ch 4, turn.
Rows 3 and 4 - Shell over shell, ch 4, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, sc in each sc across, sc in 1st ch of next ch-4, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 4, turn.
Rows 5 thru 9 - Shell over shell, ch 4, skip 1 sc, sc in each sc to within last sc, skip last sc, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 4, turn.
Row 10 - Shell over shell, ch 4, skip 2 sc, sc in each sc across to within last 2 sc, ch 4, skip last 2 sc, shell over shell. Ch 4, turn.
Repeat Row 10 until there are 16 shells on each side. Ch 4, sl st between last 2 sc of previous row. Fasten off.
Sew together tips of last shells.
Repeat entire instructions with second color.
With wrong sides together, place one piece on top of the other. Pass the ribbon through the loops of both pieces in such a way that only the loops of the contrasting color appear on each side.
Fill the solid part with layers of cotton, sprinkling scented powder between the layers. Sew top together around the hole.
Tie the ribbon in a bow and trim ends.
