Crochet Christmas Pointsettia Flower
We really love this crochet pointsettia. In fact, it's one of the nicest patterns we've found. The perfect addition to all your holiday decorations!
Materials
- yarn (red, yellow, green)
- size E crochet hook
- yarn needle
Instructions
Pointsettia Flower - center
With yellow yarn, ch 5. Slip stitch in 1st chain to form a ring. In ring, work 7 sc. End with slip stitch in beginning ch-1. Fasten off, leaving a 6" tail of yarn.
Pointsettia Flower - petal
With red, ch 8. Skip 1st ch from hook. Work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc in each of the remaining chains. Remove hook from loop.
With right side facing up, insert hook into top strand of any sc of the yellow center. Pull dropped loop from petal up through strand, yo and pull through loop. On opposite side of petal, work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc in each of the starting chains. End with slip stitch in first sc. Fasten off.
Make 5 more petals.
Pointsettia Leaf
Ch 10. Skip 1st ch from hook. Sc in next 8 ch. 3 sc in last ch. Without turning piece, sc in next 6 stitches (back of starting chains). Hdc in next sc. 3 sc in same space. Hdc in same space. Sc in next sc.
Ch 1. Turn.
NOTE: Throughout piece from this point on, work in back strand of stitches only.
Skip 1st sc. Sc in next 6 sc.
Ch 1. Turn.
Skip 1st sc. Sc in each of next 7 sc. Hdc in next space. Hdc in same space. 3 dc in next sc. Hdc in next sc. Hdc in same space. Sc in next 6 sc.
Ch 1. Turn.
Skip 1st sc. Sc in next 7 sc. Hdc in next sc. Hdc in same space. 3 dc in next sc. Hdc in next sc. Hdc in same space. Sc in next 7 sc. Ch 1. Slip stitch in next sc. Fasten off.
Weave in loose ends of yarn.
Repeat for second leaf.
Finishing
To "bunch up" the yellow center, thread yarn onto needle and run needle through the top of two sc directly across from each other. Run the needle across two opposite sc. Pull the yarn snug. Run the ends of the yarn down through the center and weave in on the backside.
Position leaves and flower and sew together.
