Row 1 - 1 dc in 3rd chain from hook. *1 dc in next chain, 2 dc in next chain, repeat from *. Ch 2, turn. (43 dc) Row 2 - hdc in each dc. Ch 2, turn. Row 3 - hdc in next 7 hdc, skip 9 hdc; hdc in next 11 hdc, skip 9 hdc; hdc in next 7 hdc. Ch 2, turn. Row 4 - hdc in each hdc. Ch 3, turn. (25 hdc) Row 5 - 1 dc in each hdc. Ch 3, turn. Row 6 - 1 dc in each dc. Join. Row 7 - 3 dc in joining stitch. 3 dc in each dc. Ch 2. (75 dc). Without turning, continue working around. Row 8 - 1 dc in first stitch. *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * all the way around. (114 dc) Rows 9 thru 18 - 1 dc in each dc around. Row 19 - 1 sc in each dc around. Bottom Ruffles (contrasting color yarn) Rows 20 and 21 - In first sc make shell (5 dc with ch 1 between each dc). *Sc in next 2 spaces. In next sc make shell. Repeat from * all the way around twice. Tie off yarn. Hat Ch 6 and join to form a ring. Row 1 - Ch 1. 11 sc in ring. Join. Row 2 - Ch 3. *Dc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join. Row 3 - Ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in each dc around. Join. Row 4 - Ch 3. 1 dc in next space. *2 dc in next space, 1 dc in next space. Repeat from * around. Continue until hat fits comfortably on doll's head. With wrong side facing in, make shells (1 dc, 2 tr, 1 dc) all the way around the edge of the hat. Place 2 sc in between each of the shells. Edging (contrasting color yarn) Sc across the top edge of the entire row of shells, all the way round. Purse

For the purse, you can use whatever type of flower or decoration you like. Finishing Run a ribbon through the dc at the waist of the dress. Tie or stitch it in place, leaving ribbon "tails". Make a flower and sew it where the ribbon is joined together. Run a ribbon through the dc at the top of the hat. Tie or stitch it in place leaving short ribbon "tails".
